The beaches of Oléron
Oléron Island boasts over 100 km of coastline, offering a plethora of stunning sandy beaches !
The beach resorts
Nevertheless, they all have one thing in common: excellent water quality for swimming. That's why several beach resorts have been awarded the Blue Flag certification, which ensures outstanding environmental practices and waste management.
Saint-Trojan Beaches
Heading south on the island, the majority of the west coast unfolds as a sprawling beach, extending from Saint-Trojan-les-Bains to Vert-Bois. It's an ideal spot for leisurely beach days and engaging in water activities.
Gatseau Beach
If you're looking to steer clear of the waves, Gatseau Beach, nestled along the Maumusson Strait, is a hidden gem protected from the wind by a beautiful pine forest. It's the ideal spot for families with children to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing day at the beach.
Northwest beaches of the island
On the other hand, on the northwest coast, the beaches of Les Huttes, Sables Vignier, Chaucre, and Domino primarily attract water sports enthusiasts (surfing, wakeboarding, kitesurfing, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, etc.).
East Coast
The East Coast stretches from Château-d'Oléron to Boyardville. It's mainly dedicated to shellfish farming (oyster and mussel cultivation). The ocean tide goes out quite far, so you can only swim at high tide. A bit further north, you'll find Plaisance Beach near the Douhet Port. It's great for swimming at any tide and perfect for little ones. As you continue up the eastern coast, you'll discover La Brée-les-Bains and La Boirie beaches.
Overall, the beautiful sandy beaches of Oléron Island have one thing in common : excellent water quality for swimming. After a fun day at the beach, make sure to take a dip in our water park during the evening.
