Plan a wine tour
Discover the vineyards in a special way by organizing a visit to the wineries on Oléron Island. Winemaking and salt trading used to be the island's main businesses until the phylloxera almost destroyed the entire vineyard.
Right now, the vineyards cover about 800 hectares and are owned by 21 winemakers and 9 independent wine producers who sell directly to visitors.
Enjoy Oléron's wines
Thanks to different types of soil and plenty of sunlight, you can taste pineau, cognac, local wines, and a variety of liqueurs.
White wine is a big deal here and pairs perfectly with oysters. But they're also increasing their production of rosé and red wines. Explore the cellars to learn about the vineyard's history and what makes Oléron wines unique, such as the techniques they use and the grape varieties they grow.
The island has cycling paths that make it easy to visit the wineries. You can ride your bike among the vineyard rows and discover the island's natural beauty and cultural heritage.
